About the project

When newly minted empty nesters decided they needed a pied-à-terre on Miami Beach, they knew exactly who to call. The couple had successfully collaborated with Michael Wolk on several sprawling homes for their large family. They had chosen a new condo at the Ritz Carlton Residences, so they commissioned Michael Wolk, once again, to create an open, airy, waterfront retreat for their newly relaxed but luxurious lifestyles.

Michael started with a light color palette, complemented with brilliant jewel tones and hints of turquoise. Michael's custom designed furniture in the living and dining rooms are softly curved to undulate like the water view outside, and to break up the straight modern lines throughout the condo. He chose sleek and colorful accessories that reflected the owners' tastes, in shades that evoked the ocean's blues and the white sandy beaches right outside. Michael even reconfigured the Master bedroom's walls so that the new beach dwellers would have unobstructed views of the water, even from the custom closets he created for them.

Michael gave his long-time clients stunning designs from top to bottom, painting the ceiling 'almost blue' to mimic the sky , and custom designing the home's rugs to be reminiscent of the ocean. In between the two, he mixed his own designs with contemporary pieces and modern classics to achieve the dynamic, eclectic look that his clients, now his friends, still loved.
