Michael Wolk

Making design matter–that is the underpinning of the oeuvre of Michael Wolk, who is one of the country’s preeminent interior designers. He launched his firm in 1984, and his signature “Neo-Modern” style results in designs that come together seamlessly, integrating the exuberance of the dynamic American modernism with the grace and elegance of European design tradition. If his practice has scaled a notable new level in the last few years, it’s because his activity in the key disciplines (residential, hospitality, furniture design) has remained the same–but the projects have come with greater challenge, more prestige–and bigger budgets. Case in point: the public spaces of Porsche Design Tower, a project that sprawls across the pages of the current Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. “The level of the work that we’re doing is higher than it’s ever been,” Wolk says. “And we met the exacting standards of the illustrious Porsche brand.” The St. Regis Bal Harbour is another of Wolk’s recent marquee projects. “These clients have great economic resources,” Wolk says, “and they expect extraordinary results.”
